Oliver Asker - support and recovery fund
Donation protected
Yesterday my 9-year-old nephew Oliver (Ollie) fell while having fun at a (school) holiday program. Following Ollie’s fall his heart stopped and a passerby gave 10min of CPR until the ambulance arrived, started his heart, and took over.
Ollie is now in an induced coma at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne while Doctors run a multitude of tests. Ollie has tried to wake albeit unsuccessfully a couple of times. We are all broken and holding on to hope for him.
Ollie’s dad Blake (my brother), and his mum Nicole, are now living every parent's nightmare.
If Ollie miraculously wakes his stay at the Children's won’t be shorter than 2 weeks. Meaning he will spend his 10th birthday in hospital.
I am setting up this GoFundMe to help support Ollie’s immediate family with their medical and home costs while they hold vigil by his bedside.
My brother is a hard-working professional boilermaker and is self-employed. While he is bedside with Ollie he won’t earn an income. Both of Ollie’s parents live in and near Ballarat - they are separated - and have Ollie’s siblings to look after, as well as everyday bills coming in. Moreover, they are too humble and proud to ask for help to cover Ollie’s ambulance costs, which included an airlift from Ballarat to Melbourne. Additional expenses will also be incurred while they care for their son during this devastating situation.
For those who don’t know him, Ollie loves basketball, is very caring and empathetic, and quite goofy. He has tons of energy, loves life and tells all of his stories with exuberance. Ollie is a loving big brother to his twin Flynn.
Any amount, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated in support of Ollie and his family. Our deepest gratitude to anyone who is in a position to contribute.
