Oliver's ADEM Recovery

As you may know, my nephew Oliver was diagnosed with ADEM in December and was just released from the hospital. Oliver spent about a week in the hospital and needed surgery to put tubes in his ears, underwent multiple MRI's, a CT scan, a lumbar tap, blood work and eventually spent time in the ICU to receive IV steroids to help battle the ADEM from spreading further down his spinal cord

ADEM is a rare kind of inflammation that affects the brain and spinal cord, usually in children. It damages the coating that protects nerve fibers, called myelin.  Oliver was fortunate enough that they were able to catch it while it was only in his brain and cervical spine and his deficits aren't what they could have been had it spread any further.

After spending time with my sister and helping take care of Oliver, I wanted to set this up to help them out with medical expenses and the continued care that he is going to need. They have a lot on their plates with Oliver still recovering and because it's an autoimmune disease it's going to take awhile for him to fully  heal. 

Your donation's would help with medical expenses and the unanticipated cost's of the after care for Oliver so that his parents can focus their full attention to helping him recover and help take care of his younger brother. This would just be one less thing for them to worry about on top of all the unknowns and challenges they face with Oliver.
