Olivia and Sophia

I have started this campaign to help my friends, Ernie and Falon Beck.

Olivia and Sophia are the Becks' twin 15-year-old twins. They had a rare blood disorder, called Diamond Blackfan Anemia. Their whole life they have been receiving blood transfusions every 2-3 weeks. In November of 2021, the transfusions started to no longer work. The next phase of their treatments was to find a bone marrow match for them both, two donors. With the help of Be The Match, donors were found, and the preparations to have the transplants began. In August of 2022, Sophia was able to have her transplant, and Olivia followed with hers in October. To say that everything went perfectly smoothly would be incorrect, but the transplants were successful for both girls. Both Ernie and Falon were optimistic about a full recovery for the girls. But after the new year, more and more things started going wrong with the girl's health. Both girls were then diagnosed with TMA, which is a clinical syndrome defined by the presence of hemolytic anemia, low platelets, and organ damage due to the formation of microscopic blood clots in capillaries and small arteries. Olivia has TMA in her lungs and Sophia has it in her kidney. Since February, Olivia has not left the hospital and Sophia has been in and out. Olivia's condition has been dramatically worsening, and she is now on a ventilator.

I put together this gofundme for Ernie and Falon to help with the bills of everyday life. They have not been able to work for the past three months and have been tag teaming between the hospital and home with their two other children under 10. While Olivia keeps fighting for her life, and Sophia fights her TMA, this will be their way of life. What they are enduring, no parent, grandparent, or sibling should have to go through.
