OLLIE'S BUMP IN THE ROAD
Donation protected
Ollie is an energetic, determined and loveable 7-year old from Ottawa who began developing a bump on his neck in the summer of 2019. After numerous inquiries and testing, he was diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma in November 2019. Ollie has since gone through a number of Tests, Scans, Lumbar Punctures, Blood Transfusions, Chemo treatments, etc. in Ottawa for over 2 months and became extremely ill from an infection and all the treatments in January. In addition to having the treatments and infection making him sick, the lymphoma was found to be in his cerebral spinal fluid (spine and brain) as well. After additional Chemo treatments, Ollie has since lost his vision. Testing shows many signs of hope and though medically everything shows he shouldn't be blind, he still can't see and it is possible that it might be permanent. In addition, he requires a donor stem cell transplant in which they have confirmed there are 3 confirmed match donors which is great news since nobody in his immediate family was a match. Ollie will need to go to Toronto at the end of March to undergo 8 days of intensive radiation followed by the stem cell transplant and months and months of therapy and recovery. Ollie has proven that he is a Brave Warrior that won't let anything bring him down and is giving it his all to kick this disease's A$$. Ollie, his Mom (Dawn), his Dad/her husband (Mario) and Abby (their daughter and Ollie's sister) have all shown incredible strength despite the challenges they have already conquered and still face. As Dawn has taken a leave from her job to be by his side and Mario is continuosly taking time off to deal with everything as well, they have a number of additional challenges and expenses to incur to get them through this that is going to continue for many months and then some. Anyone that knows Dawn, knows how generous, thoughtful and strong she is, and although they don't want to ask for help, so many people are asking how they can. We have set up this GoFundMe so the family can have one less thing to stress and worry about. If you want to and are able to donate anything its greatly appreciated. To all the people who have supported the family with love, support, gifts, meals, and any other assistance it is greatly appreciated and the family is truly humbled but we all know, it's a testament to who they are and how they treat everyone they know and those around them. A meal donation link is below if you would like to donate towards a restaurant gift card, etc., as I am sure you can appreciate, they are always on the go and not able to be home to sit down as a family, cook and eat together which will be extremely expensive given their extensive trip in Toronto while undergoing treatment and surgery. https://www.mealtrain.com//8y6w42 Dawn has started a blog of updates which can be accessed below. https://olliesbump.blogspot.com/?m=1 Thanks again for all the continued support!
