Ollie's Super Wish

Ollie and Hugo are two of Granbury’s finest Super toddlers. When they were diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in the fall of 2020, Oliver and Hugo’s Super parents (AKA Natalie and Paul) were determined to do all they could to fight this progressive disease and give these Super boys the best opportunity to beat Duchenne. When Natalie and Paul learned about a Duchenne-focused super clinic in Boston with a super neurologist named Dr. Wong, they knew they had to go. They scheduled a visit in early September and their awesome super friends organized Ollie’s Super Wish Go Fund Me to raise money for their trip. 

Ollie is a super-FAN-tastic 4 year old who wishes for a cure for his 2 year old little brother, Hugo, and himself. He is going to do everything possible to walk the unpredictable road of life, holding his little brother's hand as they brave the challenges and enjoy the surprises that come. With new treatment therapies on the horizon,Boston is one of the first steps in this journey!

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare genetic disease caused by changes in the dystrophin gene. Over time this leads to loss of muscle and decreased muscle strength. Dystrophin is needed to help the muscles function and repair. This means when Ollie and Hugo's muscles break down, they are unable to heal properly. 

At the moment, there is no cure for Duchenne, but there is hope on the horizon as super researchers and scientists explore gene therapy and other helpful treatments to increase quality of life.
