Olympic Training for Rising Stars

Seventeen year-old L’Mio Edwards and her sixteen year-old brother Zion are high school track athletes whose stars are on the rise. When L’Mio was just fourteen, she was ranked fourth in America for girls her age running the 4K. Now L’Mio is ranked sixth in California for high school girls competing in the 800 meters. Zion is just getting started.
We are launching this GoFundme campaign for two purposes. The first is to send L’Mio and Zion to track and field camp at Stanford University. The second is to get them ongoing training with local coaches that have a successful roster of Olympic athletes.
Here’s why we’re asking. These two young, gifted, International Baccalaureate student athletes have almost straight A’s, are constantly contributing to the community and have Olympic dreams. Their parents don’t have the resources to get them the training they require.
Here’s more background. A U.S. Congressional Certificate of Humanitarian Service was awarded to L’Mio when she was only fourteen for using her athletic ability to feed over a thousand families during the pandemic. L’Mio ran a 5K each day, for thirty consecutive days, to provide groceries for people that lost their jobs or were too sick to work.
In CIF Division 1 Finals, L’Mio dominated the 800 meters from beginning to end. She’s known for being able to switch running gears when it counts and simply needs the opportunity for advanced training. Zion has quietly been training to make his debut and dominate the same.
U.S. Olympian Jeanette Bolden and Dr. Theresa Price were impressed by the kids’ athletic abilities, grades, and continuous acts of kindness towards others so they introduced L’Mio and Zion’s parents to Olympic trainers that could help the kids reach their Olympic dreams.
The trainers lowered their price to help. For $2,000 L’Mio and her brother Zion can receive 10 sessions each alongside current Olympians and World Champions. Separately, the track and field camp at Stanford University costs $825 a kid. That means $1,650 for L’Mio and her brother Zion. This is why our goal is to raise $4,000 with the remaining balance covering their food and travel.
Let’s help get L’Mio and Zion the training they require to realize their Olympic aspirations.
