Hello family and friends! My name is Omari Fleming and I am a Junior studying Music Performance at the Illustrious Kentucky State University, with a concentration in Voice and a minor in Clarinet. I am vying to be the 30th Mister Kentucky State University! Being at this university is only possible because of the John Henry Jackson Distinguished Achiever Scholarship which grants me a costless education on the basis of academics. Since being in school, I have devoted my time to numerous organizations and student affairs. My freshman year, I enjoyed being part of the Concert Choir, Marching Band, NAACP, and the Residence Hall Association. I was also recognized as a Presidential Awardee while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and making the Dean’s List. Navigating through my workload, a pandemic, and these organizations, I was able to build a foundation for what was to come my sophomore year. In the Fall of 2021, I became a member of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. This was one of the proudest moments of my life to date. I learned to be a leader, a teammate, consistent, and motivated. While I served as Sophomore Class Treasurer and Assistant Director of the Campus Activities Board during my second year, I sang in choir and played clarinet in the band. These were not my only achievements as I was later crowned as Mr. Debonair of the Alpha Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. My junior year has been nothing short of amazing as I have continued to balance my participation in all endeavors. I currently serve as the Student Government Association Executive Treasurer and as the Region One Undergraduate Board Member for the South Central Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. In addition to that, I am the Keeper of Records for the Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. I have been a member of the Mighty Marching Thorobreds for a consecutive three years and have traveled to various places while doing so. Continually, this year I also play tenor saxophone as part of the Jazz Band.
As community service has always been a priority of mine, I have volunteered at the Access Soup Kitchen, the Rosenwald Center for 4-H Youth Development, the Norcott Neighborhood House, and many others. My involvement as a Thorobred has allowed me to grow a passion for connecting with others on a deeper level and embracing individuality. I truly believe in the power and positive impact college students can have on the world when they stand together. I am committed to being a listener, a motivator, a hard worker, and a driven and passionate leader for this university. Kentucky State University has given me the platform to make a difference, and I know that I am capable of going above and beyond for what I believe in. For this reason, I am vying to be the 30th Mister Kentucky State University! I appreciate any amount of money that is given to me in support of my campaign on behalf of my vision and beliefs! Thank you for your support!
