Help Us Regain Our Footing After Eaton Fire Loss

Donation protected
I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of my Oma, a woman whose strength and resilience have always been an anchor for our family. As a child, she endured the devastation of the bombing of her family home during World War II. In 1968, she bought the house on Tonia Ave that became a foundation for our family—a home that, for decades, sheltered four generations, including myself, my son, and my siblings.

Last week, early morning of January 8th, the Eaton fires in Altadena destroyed this home, and my Oma, brothers, mom, and aunt were forced to leave with nothing. Despite the unimaginable loss, my grandmother continues to inspire us with her grace, reminding us, “We cannot be sad or mad.” Her unshakable positivity guides us as we navigate this heartbreak.

Our home was so much more than a house. It was a sanctuary filled with love, comfort and memories—a place I could always run to for support. The loss of this space has left an incredible void in our lives, but as my Oma has taught us, we must look forward.

These funds will assist with needs that might not be fully covered by other sources of aid to help our family get by during this challenging transition.
We deeply appreciate any contribution you can make, whether it’s a donation or sharing this campaign. Thank you for standing with us as we honor my Oma’s strength and mend the life and community we have lost.

With deepest gratitude,
Ahmanie Cohill
