Help Bailey's sizzle at Finals!

We are the Breakfast Club. We won 1st place in our division in the Virginia State Odyssey of the Mind competition in Newport News and have qualified to go to the World Finals in Iowa. We need your help to raise money before Memorial Day Weekend so that we can go to the World Finals May 25-29. Will you help?
Our team represents Bailey’s Elementary School for the Arts & Sciences, a Fairfax County Title I Magnet school with arts integration and Spanish immersion programs. Our team members attend Bailey’s Elementary School and Belvedere Elementary School. We love creativity and innovation and we’re all excited about the chance to meet up with kids from across the world who enjoy creative problem-solving as much as we do!
What is Odyssey of the Mind?
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that started in 1978 (originally called Olympics of the Mind). The program provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. The World competition will represent the most creative problem-solving youth from around the world coming together to exchange a wide variety of ideas on how they all solved the same problems in different ways! These kinds of international youth educational programs hold the hope for solving the real-life problems facing our world. You can watch a short video of the program here.

So... Why fundraising?
Although our team is associated with the schools, no public school funds are allocated for this program. Teams must raise money to support themselves. At the regional level, the cost of participating in Odyssey of the Mind is not high, however once a team qualifies to compete at the World Finals it becomes very expensive. Each year the competition is held in a university that has the capability of hosting more than 800 teams and their families from more than 25 countries including China, Russia, Germany, Poland, and Canada to name just a few. This year the competition will be held at Iowa State University from May 25-29. Teams must pay for their own travel expenses, room and board, and shipping costs for all props to be delivered to the competition.
We need your help by Memorial Day Weekend to make this trip possible. We've been working hard all year and are now so close to make our dream of going to World Finals come true. No amount is too small. Every dollar counts.
We are very grateful for your support!
