On the Rise Scholarships for Underprivileged Youth
Hello everyone,
We are a nonprofit mentorship organization at UCR and we aim to educate young underprivileged boys and girls from local areas (high school-aged) in various topics including preparation for college, encouraging the growth of self-confidence, mindfulness, goal planning, and other general advice regarding adulthood and college life. The numbers of high school-aged students who pursue are a higher education are small in poverty-stricken areas. 45 percent of high-poverty schools received less state and local funding compared to other schools in their district. Underserved students attend and complete college at far lower rates than their peers. We want to ensure educational equity is formidable by providing the necessary tools to succeed. We strive to recognize diversity and help those who are underprivileged seek higher education and achieve their goals and dreams. We believe everyone has the right to an education. Our goal is to raise money for our scholarship fund for underprivileged high school seniors entering college this upcoming fall 2020. Your contributions will be distributed in the form of scholarships for underprivileged students. We are creating a scholarship fund and then after we raise the money we are going to have an application for students to apply. The criteria is that the student must come from an underprivileged background and proof that they are going to college in the fall. We are going to share the application with different schools in the Riverside area to give students the opportunity to apply. Your contributions will make a difference especially during this time of economic hardship due to COVID-19. We appreciate all the love and support.
