On the Road For Climate Action

OUR MISSION
Urgent action is needed to curb greenhouse gas emissions and slow climate change. The U.S. has an important role to play in leading this action. However, climate policy and behavioral change have thus far been inadequate, and climate change is ensuing at an accelerated pace. I am an air pollution scientist, and in 2018 I co-founded this grassroots project across the U.S. in order to empower everyday people to help solve the climate crisis through community outreach and education, and to video interview climate experts, disaster survivors, and others along the way. When not on the road, I'm building a team of volunteers, writing articles for the press, surveying the public, speaking locally, and publishing educational videos; all in the name of climate outreach and education.
CLIMATE SURVEY
I developed a 24-question climate survey in order to better understand how climate change sentiment differs around the country and what aspects of climate change matter most to people, so as to better inform effective climate communication. Click here to take my climate survey!
ACCOMPLISHMENTS - 2018
On August 1st, my fiance and I launched an 11 weeks national climate outreach campaign in which we gave nearly 40 public climate presentations at college campuses, churches, grade schools, and community centers across 36 states. We also interviewed scientists, policy makers, farmers, and others about climate impacts and solutions, and collected nearly 500 climate surveys. Click here to view the growing video archive from our journey!
ACCOMPLISHMENTS - 2019
On Earth Day, we took to the road again! This time, we bit off a 6 week project so as to do less driving and more outreach. To minimize emissions, we used a fuel efficient vehicle. En route, we visited communities across the Northwest as we continued to give public presentations about the causes, impacts, and solutions relating to climate change. We also continued to survey the public better understand climate sentiment around the country. Having returned from our 2019 spring journey, Athina has returned to her job as a teacher, while I continue to work for climate awareness and action in my community and others.
YOUR DONATION
By generously donating today, you will keep this project moving forward! My team plans wisely to keep costs low. For our 2018 project, $7,900 of donations translated to 11 weeks of climate outreach, producing 42 public climate presentations, 13 online climate videos (more still coming!), 11 climate-related news publications, and the collection of 475 climate surveys! This means that for roughly every $100 you donate, you can expect us to produce one of these various deliverables (or ~50 climate surveys), while also managing to keep ourselves on the road (transportation, lodging, & food). You'll never see your dollar go further!!!
Climate outreach takes a LOT of time, and we have no official sponsors. Thus, every dollar counts. We are very grateful for donations of all size, and thank you in advance for your generosity! =)
