Lessons From A Boat
Donation protected
In December 2024 four middle aged men (who should know better) are endeavouring to row across the Atlantic. John, Dan, Steve and Jason are looking to raise over £200,000 for three charities, Diabetes UK, Cancer Research and The Final Straw, but also inspire a generation with a series of live lessons from their boat to thousands of school children. Each lesson focused on the environment and the unique challenges faced when rowing an ocean. We are also working with Plymouth University in the UK to run a series of marine plastic monitoring experiments.
Our first and equally hard challenge is to raise the £50,000 required to fund the row, from the boat purchase, to safety equipment, training, water makers and food. We'd hugely appreciate any support you can provide. We really hope that we can use the row to raise awareness and hopefully inspire the next generation, for us it's so much more than a row.
Spending guide:
£15 will fund one super tasty dehydrated food pack! actually the curry is lovely!
£50 will fund one waist harness that attaches you to the boat at all times.
£100 will fund the Marine VHF Radio Course to allow us to call for help or warn tankers there is a tiny boat in their way!
£5,000 will fund all 6 of the oars we need, even though you typically row with 4 you need spares!
