One Day at a Time...FAITH gives substance to HOPE

Angie Erazo is a beautiful soul, who always has a smile on her face. She laughs easily and finds love and strength from her son Gilbert and husband Ron. The family has been part of the Morris Plains School District since Gilbert was in Kindergarten, they have participated in many of our Morris Plains programs and are loved by many Morris Plains families and friends. Ron works for the Morris Hills Regional School District and is always available to lend a hand, volunteer his time, or simply provide a hug to someone in need.

In the Fall of 2021, Angie's life, and the life of her family, took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with bone cancer. Angie went through grueling chemo treatments, hospital stays, and doctor appointments, and missed so much time with her son. Through it all, Angie had a smile on her face, made sure that her son didn't miss a friend's birthday party or soccer game, and tried to be as present as possible.

In February of 2022, the cancer was contained in Angie's leg, and it was decided that the best course of action would be to remove her leg. Without hesitation the decision was made, and Angie had surgery. This was a big transition for everyone, but it allowed Angie to be with her family, which was the end goal.

Angie never wavered in her positivity, she made jokes about her situation, laughed at herself, and radiated joy, always giving her family all of her love and uplifting personality.

With the cancer journey behind Angie, this past summer the Erazo family was able to visit family out of state, and they started to find a rhythm with their new "normal". Angie's cancer levels were good, and everyone was finally able to take some deep breaths. Halloween has always been a favorite holiday for the Erazo family. This year in true Angie humor, she and Ron dressed as the fragile box and leg lamp from "A Christmas Story". It was a perfect costume and a perfect night.

Recently, Angie started to have some pain in her chest. Hoping it was just a cold, she went and saw the doctor who ordered some tests. The tests showed that Angie's cancer was growing quickly in her chest. Everyone went into action after Angie was re-diagnosed, and with her superwoman powers, Angie began treatment once again.

As we are now preparing for the end of school and summer, the Erazo family is giving all of their love and time to Angie. The cancer is very aggressive and growing fast, medical and home bills are adding up, and the family now needs our help more than ever.

As Angie, Ron, and Gilbert spend the next few weeks together, we are asking the community to help lighten the burden of the Erazo family's medical and home expenses. Any donation would be appreciated and a huge help to the family.

Thank you for your support.

Love,
Friends of Angie, Ron and Gilbert
