One Giant Step for Skyler
Donation protected
We are starting a Go Fund ME for our sister Lynn Letourneau and her husband Paul. In May of this year their 16 year old son suffered a concussion while playing basketball at school. He had some vomiting but had some more serious symptoms the next 4 weeks to come. Sometimes concussions cause brain injuries that take a while to affect the complex body systems. With fever and infections they made trips to the ER and eventually admitted him to the Barbara Bush Center at MMC. He underwent multiple test and had a great team of Dr's trying to pinpoint what was going on. Skyler has a brain injury that has affected his motor skills. He is unable to stand or walk on his own. A brain injury that disrupts the connection between the brain and the muscles. We hope that he is in the recovery phase. With the help of Dr's and therapy there is no timeline of how he will progress in the next few months or year. His brain needs to be retrained to signal his motor functions.
Although health insurance pays for a percentage of medical bills Skyler is going to need both of his parents to assist with his day to day living and appointments for the time being. Any small amounts would greatly be appreciated and helpful with any of his needs.
Skyler is a well liked young man. He is going to be a Junior at Thornton Academy in the fall. He recently started a job at Hannaford and is a good student. He loves playing basketball, hanging out with his close friends, and cousins. Definitely cherished by his grandparents.
