One Last Family Vacation - A Mother's Wish

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

We are writing with a heartfelt request to help a brave and resilient woman, Jennifer, fulfill her final wish. We are reaching out on behalf of Suzanne Hand, a devoted mother and native of the North Country of New York, who wants to make one last family vacation a reality.

In March 2016, Jennifer's world was turned upside down when she received the devastating news that she had breast cancer. At only 39 years old, with a one-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son, she faced this daunting challenge head-on with the support of her loving husband, Jason, and mother. Determined to fight, Jennifer sought a second opinion at Boston's prestigious Dana Farber, where she made the difficult decision to undergo a double mastectomy and begin treatment.

During this arduous journey, Suzanne, Jennifer's loving mother, stepped in to provide support to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. Recognizing the need to be close to the medical center for the surgery, Suzanne selflessly dipped into her own retirement fund to secure an apartment for her lengthy stay in Boston. Together, the family faced each obstacle with unwavering strength, and after months of treatment, Jennifer was informed that she was cancer-free. It was a joyous moment that brought hope and relief to everyone.

Three years later, Jennifer began the process of reconstructive surgery, a physically and emotionally challenging experience that few truly understand. Year after year, she anxiously awaited the results of her cancer scans, and year after year, she received positive news. But in May of 2022, the cruel hands of fate dealt another devastating blow. At the age of 45, Jennifer was informed that the cancer had returned, spreading to both her lungs and chest wall. She was given a grim prognosis of just two more years to live, even with ongoing treatment.

Now, in the midst of year two, Jennifer continues to fight with every ounce of her being. But amidst the uncertainty and pain, there is a flicker of hope—a wish burning brightly in her heart. Jennifer longs to create lasting memories with her family before her time runs out. Despite the grave concern over her health, specifically her breathing, she dreams of taking her children on a magical trip to Disney in October.

Jennifer is what Suzanne lovingly refers to as a "Disney Kid," someone who cherishes the enchantment and wonder of the magical world created by Walt Disney. The thought of experiencing the joy and laughter alongside her children in the place where dreams come true fills Jennifer's heart with immeasurable happiness. And this is where we can make a difference.

We humbly ask for your support in fulfilling Jennifer's final wish. Your contributions will go towards covering the expenses of the family's trip to Disney, including travel, accommodation, and the necessary medical support to ensure Jennifer's safety during the journey. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a tremendous impact on their lives.

It is also our hope that any remaining funds will be used to establish a college fund for Jennifer and Jason’s children. This way Jennifer can continue to provide for her beloved kids, ensuring they have the opportunity to pursue their dreams and build a bright future.

Please open your hearts and help us give Jennifer and her family the gift of precious memories. Together, we can bring a sprinkle of magic into their lives during this challenging time. Your generosity will not only bring smiles to their faces but will forever be etched in their hearts as a testament to the kindness and compassion that exists in our world.

Thank you for considering our plea, and may your kindness and support bring comfort and joy to Jennifer and her family during this difficult journey.

With heartfelt gratitude,
