ONE LAST SHOT TO BEAT PANCREATIC CANCER

Why do the worse things happen in the early hours of the morning?

On October 4th, 2023, at 3:40am, two ER doctors came into my husband’s room with a look on their faces that made my heart stop. The news that followed changed our lives, devastated our family, and will rob me of my soulmate.

Hello….my name is Nancy, and my husband Kevin Margulies, was diagnosed at 47 years old with stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer which has spread to his liver. The scans revealed over 60 lesions on his liver, 2 on his pancreas, some in the surrounding lymph node, and a pulmonary embolism in each lung.

Kevin dedicated 18 years to the US Army, before retiring as a disabled veteran. During his service he did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. While in Afghanistan he was exposed to the burn pits breathing in toxic chemicals from the black soot for months. When he came home, he unknowingly came home with this cancer developing and taking root in his body.

Now instead of looking forward to our middle-aged lives as empty nesters we fear the unknown from this evil illness. My husband’s goal is to live to continually be in our son and daughters’ lives, and to one day walk our daughter down the aisle. This lethal illness threatens to take this away from him and our family.

After months of research and multiple opinions from various doctors and other pancreatic patients, we found a little light of hope in all of this darkness. We found a credible hope with Dr. Jason Williams of the Williams Cancer Institute, who has pioneered Intratumoral immunotherapy and ablation procedures against cancer. After a consultation with Dr. Williams and speaking with a pancreatic cancer patient for which this treatment has been successful, we have found much hope in the fight against this lethal illness. With stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer, only 1% make it to see past 3 to 5 years. We envision a possible cure if my husband receives this life saving treatment.

Although Dr. Williams has offices in the United States, he must practice and carry out these life saving innovative procedures at the Williams Cancer Institute in Mexico. This means that my husbands’ insurance will not cover the cost of treatment or, travel costs for the 3 anticipated trips needed to receive this life-giving treatment.

We now face an insurmountable financial barrier in Kevin’s fight for his life. Despite these relentless challenges, his spirit remains unbroken, and we stand by his side. I am setting up this Go Fund Me account for my husband because he is my soulmate, our story can’t end here. We love our grown kids, family, and I want to have the very best chance at life with the love of my life. This is supposed to be the time for us to enjoy our middle-aged lives. I know my husband really wants to experience that day when he walks our daughter down the aisle and have that special time with my family. As a family, we humbly ask if you will consider financially giving to help defray the cost of this life-giving treatment. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings him closer to the treatment that could save his life. We will be forever grateful for helping us CURE Kevin and save this veteran’s life!
