One less worry in the year of women

The academic year 2019/20 marks 50 years since St Edmund’s matriculated its first female student.

The College has organised events, is compiling stories of past and present Eddies women, but we also want to try to achieve something tangible for present and future women of the College, to give them one less thing to worry about while a Cambridge student, and so help level the playing field.

We identified one problem that could be fixed by all of us clubbing in together would be to ensure free sanitary products for women are provided in College. This has been a growing topic in recent years with Scotland's government recently announcing they would become free there, and all of the other 30 Colleges having taken some action in this area already. We've done the maths, and to raise endowment income expressly to provide these in perpetuity looks to be achievable, if the community can come together!

Therefore we are writing to you in the hope that you will support the current and future female St Edmund's students with this initiative.

Thank you for your generosity!

*If we fail to reach the necessary amount for endowment, the funds will instead go towards provision of sanitary products for as many years as possible.
