One Million Steps For Lent
Hi Everyone! I have decided that I am going to do 1 million steps for the duration of Lent in aid of the Donegal Hospice. My reasoning for doing this challenge is twofold. For those of you who knew my mum, she was an avid walker and it is what a lot of people remember of her. Every time Lent came around, she would try and encourage me to take something up like walking rather than giving something up. I feel the best way to honour her memory would be by doing something that she loved. My second reason for doing this challenge is to raise funds for the Donegal Hospice, who recently took such excellent care of my Grandad, Phil Bán in his final days.
In this challenge, I would need to get one million steps completed over the 47 days of Lent (not 40 days like many believe, Sundays count too ). This means I would need to complete at least 21,276 a day. However, some days this may not be possible so there will be days that I will try to exceed this daily amount and “bank” steps for days that I may not get a chance to complete this number. I will be using my Fitbit to track my progress and will share my numbers every now and again. I had started this challenge on Ash Wednesday and have taken nearly 75,000 steps in the 3 days since and have decided to make this a charitable challenge to hold myself accountable in completing it.
Any donations, big or small, would be greatly appreciated for such a great and caring organisation!
