One of the last Movie rental stores in Canada

Hello, I'm Joe the owner of Movie World in Stony Plain, Alberta, one of the last physical media rental shops in Canada. I took over in 2020, in the midst of the hardest times of the pandemic.

Physical media has been a part of my life since I was a kid, growing up watching those horror movies we all were probably to young to be watching, laughing at those witty comedians, and sitting in front of the tv eating popcorn waiting for the next big scene to come across the screen. We strive to bring the classics, and those rare hard to find titles to rent into the shop, we want to share our love of movies with as many people as possible. Along with bringing the movies to your home, we also want to bring back the nostalgia of walking into a movie store, for families, couples, and movie lovers alike.

Unfortunately, our bills have been piling up, even with us trying to expand our business. We didn't want it to come to this, however, we believe in doing everything possible to make sure this staple stays in our local community.

We ask for your help, no matter how big or small. All proceeds will be going towards us paying bills that include our electricity, gas, supplies and rent for the store. We want to continue to bring you your cinematic favourites.
