One Planet, Our Impact

Projeto Gea - Σχέδιο Γης is a voluntary movement, since 2019, for a better planet to raise public awareness about environmental issues, such as waste pollution and invasive plant species. Through our campaigns in Faro & Olhão, we want to help people become more aware of their impact on the environment to gradually acquire a more conscious attitude.

Why are we creating this fundraising?

The purpose of this fundraising is to get more and better equipment for our campaigns and to be able to do campaigns along the Algarve region.

We are looking for better-quality tools like more resistant gloves and trash pickers. So far, our trash pickers have been broken after some uses, and some of our gloves have suffered some "damages". In the beginning, we were receiving plastic bags as a donation from specific entities but after Covid, this stopped, so we started buying them. The reason is unknown to this date.

In addition, we would like to invest in personalised clothes, with our logo so it's easier to get recognised by new participants and the community. It's nice to raise curious eyes and receive questions like "Who are you? What is Projeto Gea?"

We also do cigarette butt cleanups and we are partners of Rede Biataki where we donate the collected cigarette butts to the project #BiataCircular, a project intended to decontaminate them using mushroom cultivation techniques. The cigarette butts need to be delivered using Rede Expressos, another thing to pay for.

Last but not least, gas! Sometimes we need to do volunteering activities in different cities so the car needs to move. If it is close enough we use our bikes.
