One step closer to walking again

It has been a while since I shared with you about my recovery and my story. For those of you that don't know, my name is Sienna Coie and I was injured in a car accident when I was 12 years old in December of 2019 coming back from a dance performance. I was diagnosed with an incomplete spinal cord injury T12-L1, among other various injuries. With this incomplete spinal cord injury, I lost the ability to walk, and control any lower extremities and functions past the L1 level of my spine from one day to the other. I had to learn how to do the daily and simple actions I used to do walking and standing, in a wheelchair, and since the day I got out of the rehab center, two months after my accident, I have been working towards walking again. This process is not easy, as a spinal cord injury is just as much a mental injury and struggle as the physical aspect of it. I go to physical therapy every week, and since my injury, I have made incredible progress in my recovery. It first began with regaining balance and learning how to sit up. Then it shifted to learning how to crawl, and now learning how to walk. I can now walk without support of my hips with the help of a walker and leg braces, however, my goal since the day I got injured was to continue living and recovering while doing so. My goal is to walk again and live the sport-filled life of soccer, dance, basketball, and more that I used to be able to do. 4 years later, I am now 15 years old, and almost a junior in high school. My true goal is to be walking down the aisle during my senior graduation instead of rolling. While rolling may sound fun, it also comes with many more struggles lol.
Stem stell treatments in the United States are an opportunity for people with spinal cord injuries, however, due to my age and weight, have refused to treat me. Still, I have gone to various physical therapy facilities, and gyms, but have recently discovered a new opportunity that I would love to be able to take to continue reaching for my goal. This opportunity is called Neurocytonix, and it is a harm-free, machine that creates new neural pathways from the brain to any part of the body that may need it. It is a 28-day treatment, an hour each day in their machine. It is located in Monterrey, Mexico, and although it is still a clinical trial for spinal cord injuries, I have much hope in it after speaking with the doctor, and an experienced family friend who has gone through this treatment, and truly believe this is my opportunity to walk again. Doing physical therapy can strengthen my body, however as I have a spinal cord injury, I myself cannot create new neural pathways in replacement of the ones that were damaged in my car accident, but this machine can. It is an amazing and incredible opportunity for me, however, it is very expensive and costly, and I cannot go without your help. With your help, I would be able to pay for my treatment in Mexico and move one step closer to walking again. Who knows what can happen in these 28 days, maybe I'll be walking out of there or be able to move my legs? Wouldn't that be so cool? If you are able to donate I would appreciate anything. You can also private message me if you would like to Venmo @Ursula-Coie or Zelle @ 760-485-6811 instead of using the gofund me app. Any and every donation is highly appreciated and I am grateful for any support.
Thank you for helping me in my journey to walk again.
Love,
Sienna Coie
