One Found Sound is a democratic, collaborative orchestra at the forefront of equitable and barrier-free music. We share orchestral music with our community through inclusive performances in unconventional spaces, vital education programs, and exciting new music initiatives.

Our 2023 lineup includes even more music, and we need your help to keep it playing! Your gift will directly fund:

Our Education Program, which brings live, interactive music to elementary school students living in public housing, produced in collaboration with the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department

The launch of our Herbert Franklin Mells Project, which includes the world premieres of four of Mells's orchestral works written from 1938 to 1944. Herbert Franklin Mells was a composer and educator, and was the first Black American man to receive a Ph.D. with a focus on symphonic music.

Our 2023 Emerging Composer Award, which supports the performance of new music by aspiring young composers under the age of 30 who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, or as a person of color.

World premiere performances, including Herbert Franklin Mells’s Symphony No. 1 in D Minor and a new work by Nathalie Joachim commissioned by One Found Sound.
