Ongoing leukemia costs and family expenses

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Ludy and I'm fundraising for our beautiful friend Brianna and her young family after a shockingly unexpected diagnosis that has left Bri unable to work and provide for her family.

In June Bri was diagnosed with Influenza A at the Mater Hospital in Rockhampton. The doctor's orders were to go home, rest and recover.

Unfortunately her health took a turn for the worst and Bri experienced bruising on her abdomen and began to cough large amounts of blood.  Something wasn't right. Bri went back to the hospital for further evaluation and throughout she had been diligent in documenting the bruising, size and severity of the symptoms she was experiencing.

Bri was bleeding internally, lungs filling with blood, her blood unable to clot and she was in immediate need of blood transfusions.

On the 26th June Brianna was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia and needed to be transferred to The Wesley Hospital in Brisbane for treatment right away.

Since Bri's arrival at The Wesley she has been receiving treatment everyday. Numerous blood transfusions and intensive chemotherapy.

Bri has had a number of complications with this condition thus far, severe infection and major bleeding difficulties.

As you can imagine the past weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions, attempts to process and collect information, organise her family, figure out what she is to do with work and how to make sure all her affairs are in order so Bri can focus on her treatment ahead.

Ongoing treatment at The Wesley in Brisbane will be required making it no longer possible for Bri to work and provide for her family for at least the next 6 months in any capacity. We all know how much Bri loves being involved in the community, she has always worked hard to provide for her family and set a great example for her kids of what hard work and a great attitude can achieve.

We would love to help Brianna in anyway that we can.

- to ensure her family can visit at any time when able
- the kids have adequate care
- everyday expenses
- and any other basic costs that may arise during this time

Travel costs between regional and Brisbane are exorbitant and we want to make sure there are no barriers to Bri being  with her children when she needs. So far Bri has been braving this journey alone due to illness within the family and the kids needing consistent care.

Donations and a share of this page would be an amazing start and we will continue to update on the progress of Bri's condition via the page. You can also join Bri's journey via FB group - Briannas Leukaemia Journey

Thank you so much for any assistance you can help with, big or small! Bri would do the same for anyone of us with her heart of gold! <3
