Online GMI Gala for Teasdale-Corti Foundation
Dr. Lucille Teasdale was a Canadian surgeon and Dr. Piero Corti was an Italian pediatrician, devoted their lives to developing the Lacor Hospital in northern Uganda. In 1995, the Teasdale-Corti Foundation was created by the couple to ensure the hospital's sustainability. Originated from a small bush hospital, the Lacor Hospital now treats over 250, 000 patients and employs 700 locals. However, it continues to face financial crises.
"While Lacor Hospital has been successful in attracting significant funds during the years of conflict in Northern Uganda, it is becoming more challenging to keep up with the growing costs of running the hospital. With peace taking hold in the area, the hospital recognizes the need to become a modern not-for-profit organization with a diversified and stable funding base." - Teasdale- Corti Foundation
The Global Medicine Initiative is collaborating with the Teasdale-Corti Foundation this year for 8th annual GMI Charity Gala but for the first time this year, we are hosting it online! The keynote speakers will be Filippo Campo and Doret Cheng who will be providing a description of the foundation's role in the provision of healthcare and access to medicines for millions of Ugandans.
Filippo Campo is the Executive Director of the Teasdale-Corti Foundation.
Doret Cheng is the Canadian manager of the pharmacy management project of Lacor Hospital.
All of the proceeds from the GMI Gala will be going towards The Teasdale-Corti Foundation. Any donation will help make an impact to improve the quality of life of patients in Uganda as over 50% of the hospital costs rely on donations.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause!
