On-site help for Ukrainian refugees in Poland
Donation protected
Dear all,
The whole world is currently witnessing a brutal war of Russian forces in Ukraine. Countless people, most of which are women and children, have fled to Poland and require humanitarian help right now. We created this initiative to collect funds and help Ukrainian civilians who crossed the Polish border on-site. In addition to the help at the border we've organized a truck that is driving from Poland through the border to Kyiv and Lviv to distribute supplies like sleeping bags, thermal clothing, food etc. because the supply line from outside of the Ukraine into the Ukraine is extremely thin and people in the Ukrainian cities are desperately in need of food and supplies.
We have a team of 5 volunteers on-site at the Polish border. Sasha Yelisyeyev is leading this on-site team.
All receipts and pictures of the purchased items will be collected and presented as proof of legitimacy here on the platform.
Sandra Njoku is leading the fundraising team. The war in Ukraine is an especially heartbreaking topic for Sandra and Sasha. Sasha is a Canadian citizen who was born and raised in the city of Lviv, Ukraine and later lived in Canada, the UK and now Kyiv, Ukraine. Sandra is a German citizen who currently lives in Canada and went to school in Mariupol, Ukraine. Their families and friends still live in different parts of the Ukraine and are directly impacted by this devastating violence.
Please join us in helping innocent people. Regardless where we lived or grew up, starting February 24, 2022 we are united across the world together with in heart.
Thank you, and God Bless you.
Below we're listing additional information about this campaign.
OUR ACTIVITIES
- Sasha is in touch with the ministry of infrastructure and he is driving from city to city along the Ukrainian / Polish border to talk to the officials and find out what they need.
- All our purchases are coordinated with the officials to make sure we know what they already have and what they still need. So we're not only helping in one city but along the whole border
- In addition to the supplies that are urgently needed at the border, we organized a truck that drives supplies directly to people in need in Kyiv and Lviv. Most of the supplies that we bring into the Ukraine are going to Kyiv. Many Ukrainians are afraid to leave Kyiv so they rather hide in Kyiv but they're running out of food, medicine and other supplies. We're supplying these things. The truckers that we've organized are risking there lives and situation within the Ukraine is getting more and more difficult because the number of available roads is decreasing from day to day
- We get direct requests from people in Kyiv and Lviv and they tell us exactly what they need. We gather these supplies, organize the truck and drive that stuff to the people in need.
- We are also in touch with some of the doctors and some of the hospitals and they also tell us exactly what the need
SUPPLIES THAT WE PROVIDE TO REFUGEES AT THE BORDER:
- tents, yoga mats for sleeping and sleeping sacks
- thermal closing
- cash because people come with Ukrainian money and due to the high inflation mostly can't exchange it to Polish money
- diapers / underwear / socks etc.
- toys (toddlers and older kids had to leave over night and had to leave everything behind)
STATUS QUO
- most refugees are women, kids and elderly people, some young men can leave if they have a foreign or dual-citizenship. Ukrainian men between 18-60 can't leave
- it's difficult to even buy supplies for the refugees at the border, everything is sold out. Sasha and other volunteers are driving deeper into Poland to purchase the items. They are going from store to store
HOW DO PUT THE MONEY INTO WORK?
- Our fundraising team is transferring the money from gofundme to Sasha Yelisyeyev. He is on-site in Poland and he is using the money to purchase the supplies on-site in Poland
- Sandra and Sasha have been working together at Deutsche Bank and are very close friends. We trust each other 100% and we're providing pictures of all the purchased items as well as pictures of all the receipts. We're sending daily updates with pictures, videos and status updates.
