In Memory of Indra Sheets

Indra Sheets, or “Miss Indra” as she was affectionately called, was a beautiful woman, inside and out.  Her smile would light up a room and her generosity was endless.  She was a loving mother to her two daughters and nurtured many other children in the community.  Driving them to and from school events, taking them to the movies, hosting swim parties, cheering at track meets and band competitions are just a few of the many things she did for her children and their friends.  Her daughters were so important to her and she spent a lot of time doing things with them and for them. 

I first met Indra after our daughters became friends at school, and she immediately welcomed my family into her friendship circle.  After one conversation, I felt like I had known her for years.  She helped me with my kids’ birthday parties, checked on me when I was sick, and took my girls shopping so they could surprise me with holiday gifts.  She was a giving person who was always willing to help others.  Miss Indra was an active member of our community, and I know there are many others who can tell similar stories about her. 

Indra was killed tragically on March 5, 2015, the victim of domestic violence.  Those of us who knew her are devastated by this loss, but the greatest impact is felt by her daughters who no longer have their mother here to care for them. 

I am setting up this fund to help the family with funeral expenses and to provide for her children.   It takes a village to raise a child, and Indra’s daughters need the village to do for them the things that she can no longer do herself.  She raised them to be good kids who are well-behaved, work hard in school, and volunteer to help others in the community.  I want them to feel the love and support of their community as they attempt to heal from this tragedy.  Any size donations will be greatly appreciated.
