Open Arms For Africa High School

The idea to build a school came from when I was in Zambia visiting the Coptic elementary and middle schools. I took the opportunity, out of curiosity, to ask Fr. Makarius (a local priest) where these wonderful kids go after they finish middle school. His answer shocked me. He told me the majority will not continue their education. Instead, they will spend their time in the streets, involve themselves in the world of drugs, and other impure things. His answer burned in my heart and I could not quench it. Therefore, I spoke with Fr. Abraham and Fr. Nathaniel about this saddening fact. They encouraged me a lot, and I pondered upon this for about 5 months and prayed for God's will. That's when I realized God was calling me to fulfill this hole in this community. Hence, I started to think about how to proceed in building a high school. As it says in Luke 14:28-30 "For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?" There had to be funding, but donations are not enough. To fund the high school and not depend on donations, we conceived the 100 Acre Farm Initiative. We will create opportunities in both education and work, the profit will cover the school. When I brought this to the attention of the board, I received huge support from the community and members. I can see that God will use this organization to change the lives of many in Africa.
