Make Olympia Granby Again

Hi. My name is Kipp Shives. In March of 2020, I started Granby Grill in Olympia, SC with no money, some Walmart beef and a lot of blood, sweat and tears. Four days later, our governor shut down in person dining during Covid. Regardless of these amazing circumstances, Granby Grill came out of 2020 debt free and surprisingly thriving.

We served up fresh yet greasy food while the world needed that. We had some cool local bands while the world needed that. We had nice pinball games to play. The world always needs that.

On Christmas Day 2022, we were flooded when the sprinkler system upstairs in the student housing complex froze and broke. Over a foot of water came into our restaurant. Our insurance never paid us. Our landlord did practically nothing. Ditto with our landlord's insurance company. After being closed almost a month, we held on for eight more months but eventually closed permanently in September 2023 due to just not being able to make it work.

We'd like to try to bang this drum again, this time with a scaled back walk-up also based in the neighborhood we love. We're most likely building a new building. Don't worry. They'll be no student housing overhead. Our estimate on buying a lot, building a building, putting in a sewer tap, grease trap and a hood vent is around $100,000. It would be really cool if we can do that.

If we raise anything less than that, we will still be able to open. Thanks in advance of your help to make this dream a reality. Literally any donation is greatly appreciated. If you can't donate, please share this post.
