Operation Cake for Quarantine

Donation protected
I am 16 year old Kiri Peterson, founder of Operation Cake for Quarantine , which I started in June 2020 at Camp Humphreys, South Korea.

I own and run a successful custom cake business, Kiri Cakes , here at Camp Humphreys, which I started at 13 years old.  After the pandemic hit South Korea, all of our incoming service members and their families have had to go through a minimum 14 day quarantine.   When I saw the limitations those in quarantine were experiencing, I felt a need to do something.

And then I was inspired.

One of the aspects of my cake business is I always have leftover cake scraps after carving and leveling my cakes.  I realized I could use these leftovers from my cake orders to turn them into cake cups to donate to our service members and families in quarantine.

Since my initial donation of just 38 cake cups, I have continued to donate every single week dating back to June 15, 2020.

I now have local bakers and volunteers that have joined our efforts to brighten the day of those in quarantine with our weekly cake cup deliveries. What started as my project has grown to include dozens of volunteers, in addition to my family of 9, helping to bake, assemble, and deliver cake cups every weekend.

As of Oct. 17, 2020, we have reached 7, 121 service members and families in quarantine with our cake cup donations.

My operation runs solely on donations as each cake cup costs just over $0.50.  We are now reaching up to about 1,000 a week, which is only a fraction of those in quarantine.  We are asking for donations to not only keep up with what we are doing now, but our goal is to reach every single person in every quarantine building every week.  Specifically, we are gearing up to reach this goal on both Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, because everyone deserves a treat when they are stuck in quarantine for the holidays!

I am just one young girl who had an idea to help others, but this project has grown and gained tremendous community support.  Operation Cake for Quarantine proves that there are good people wherever you go, willing and ready to help incoming strangers who are stuck in a hard situation in quarantine.  Because it's not just cake...our cake cups show those quarantined that they aren't forgotten and that people in the community are here to support them.

We appreciate any donation you can contribute as we continue to brighten the day of those in quarantine at Camp Humphreys, South Korea...with cake! Please donate and share our mission with your friends and family to help us keep Operation Cake for Quarantine going.
