Operation for K9 Rocco (Search and rescue dog)

Five year old springer spaniel male k9 Rocco needs an operation to repair the cruciate ligament on his back left leg.

Operational cadaver dog Rocco's main job is working on a boat locating missing loved ones lost in rivers.

Rocco's handler Rachell often says “I care for Rocco, train and work with Rocco but he’s not mine as he’s here for our communities the people of Ireland.

Rocco's work is invaluable and he has brought closure to many families and not just in his home county of Wexford.

The team link in with other river rescue agencies around the country and have been involved in searches as far away as Mayo and Sligo.

It’s impossible to get insurance to cover a search dog here in Ireland and if Rocco was a hunting dog the companies would insure him.

No one knows what’s around the corner in life and we want Rocco to have the operation to get him back on his feet, Rocco will be back doing what he does best in good time and this boy loves to work.
