Operation for perineal hernia

Donation protected
Hello,
my wife and I are trying to raise funds to cover the cost of our dog’s operation for a perineal hernia.

A month ago we noticed a small lump on our pup’s rear end which wasn’t noticeable until he was given a haircut as his long hair adequately covered it up. So we took him to the vet.

The vet had no idea what was causing the problem as he was completely asymptomatic at the time. So we left hoping this issue was merely aesthetic, completely unaware of the severity of the problem.

Time passes with no problems until one day he finally showed symptoms. He was unable to urinate or defecate, he was vomiting and generally didn’t look well. Thankfully that didn’t last more than a couple hours.

Those symptoms were enough, however to do some research and I found that everything aligned with a perineal hernia, so we called the vet to schedule an appointment and go from there. Unfortunately we couldn’t get an appointment for another couple of weeks, but since his condition improved, we figured it would have to do.

For the next week or so afterward our pup was acting normally with no symptoms. He was playful with lots of energy until one day, once again, he became symptomatic. It was the same as before, only this time they didn’t go away so quickly. He even kept looking at me as though he were trying to ask for help.

So back to the Internet I went looking further into the problem when I found that this was likely serious. We immediately brought him an emergency clinic where we learned how dire his condition was. It was now a life or death situation.

We chose life for him that day. Our pup is like a child to us so we agreed to put ourselves in debt to give him a life-saving operation. The next day he successfully went through surgery and is now in the process of recovery. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Despite the headaches, he’s worth it.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
