Operation: Help the Simpsons

UPDATE: On Thursday, December 3rd, 2020, JD went in for a permanent pacemaker placement and did very well. Unfortunately, his wife, Lori, got there after he went back for this procedure, but were able to spend the afternoon and majority of the evening together. Visitors must leave by 7pm, so Lori will have to go elsewhere for the evening.

Please keep them in your prayers, as JD has at least a month of recovery and observation ahead of him. They are still in Ohio until further information is given.

THE BEGINNING: On Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020, Lori Simpson got a call that no wife wants to get. Her husband, JD, was in distress while on the road for a delivery in Ohio.

That morning he felt very light-headed and dizzy. It felt like someone was retching his guts and squeezing his head. His hands were tingling. He got the truck stopped and called 911. While en-route to the hospital the symptoms got worse and convulsions started. When he got to the hospital he had heard the doctor say the there was a total bundle branch block.

That means that the top part of his heart was pumping but the bottom part was not receiving the electrical signal to do so. This was causing his heart rate to drop as low as 17 and his blood pressure as low as 59/56. They administered different medications just to keep his heart beating before deciding that a pacemaker was a must.

He had a temporary pacemaker put on Wednesday afternoon and is now in the ICU being monitored for a day or two before deciding whether a permanent one is necessary.

Thursday, December 3rd, 2020, JD will more than likely undergo surgery to have a permanent pacemaker placed.

Those that know JD and Lori know that they would give the shirts off the backs for anyone. They have even single-handedly organized coats drives for children and adults within our community, while never meeting a stranger.

The next months are going to be unknown for them in lieu of finances and when JD will be healthy enough to return to the road. Not to mention, he is currently in Ohio without a plan of his return to Kansas due to the danger of travel at this time. Any monetary amount that could be given would help this couple and their family so much.
