The Problem: With airports shut down in the Dominican Republic we are no longer able to send animals we rescue off the streets to their new homes in the U.S. and Canada. Because of this we are overseeing 100+ animals and with no animals going out we have no room to take other needy animals in. The flight situation does not look promising until this Fall and with so many animals here in need we need to make room to help others now.
The Answer: Operation Hounds to Homes ... and Coconut Cats Too! Dogs and Cats of the Dominican Republic (DCDR), an all volunteer rescue organization, is raising funds to charter an airplane to transport about 60 animals to their new homes. These animals have already been adopted, but have been stranded on the island since early March because of the Covid crisis. Help us get them to their new homes so that we can take in other needy street animals.
Our adopters have stepped up to donate a significant amount of money to get their new furever family members home sooner. DCDR is dedicating all adoption fees to the air transport. Supporters of ours, Cory and Lydia Vokurka, are going to match all donations up to $7,500 U.S. We just need your help to raise the final amount to get these animals to their new homes and to clear out our shelter and foster homes so that we can take in some of the many animals in dire need that are living on the streets.
Any amount is appreciated! Everyone donating $100 or more will receive a commemorative "Operation Hounds to Homes" t-shirt with the new logo of our animal sanctuary, Coconut Hound Haven. For corporate sponsors donating $1,000 or more we will add your logo to our shirt and promote your company as a sponsor of Hounds to Homes.
