Who are we?

Wallington cricket club was founded a century ago in 1921. The club is ECB Clubmark accredited, runs 3 Saturday sides all playing competitive league cricket and 1 Sunday side playing friendly cricket. We also have a range of colts sides in different age groups and give our facilities free to the local primary school. We are proud to be friendly, fully inclusive and important part of the community.

Community impact

Wallington Cricket Club takes its place in the community seriously and we do what we can to encourage people to take up the game of cricket for fitness, mental wellbeing and just being part of the Wallington Sports club family.

We have worked hard and invested in our coaching infrastructure over the last 12 months in order to build our colts section. Last season we had 2 dedicated colts coaches running U13 and U15 sides. Next year we will be expanding our coaching team to six in order to support the demand from the local community and expect to run U10, U13, U14 and U17 sides. In addition, we will be expanding our offering to include a girls team. At our recent free community taster sessions, we had a huge number of girls attending - no doubt off the back of the Lionesses successful Euros campaign and also the Hundred and more recently the Women's T20 at the Commonwealth Games.

We closely liaise with our local Primary Schools and Secondary school and have been successful in encouraging young people to come and try out the game, especially young people from the local South Asian community. We aspire to continue to develop these relationship, doing even more for the local community and continue to expand our colts section.

Why are we funding?
We wish to build 4 brand new state-of-the-art cricket nets with run ups and a security perimeter fence to enable different ages and abilities to train at the same time and to enhance the security of the facility. The new nets will have extended run ups and will result in a first class environment for our growing adult and junior members. We currently have 2 nets that members have tirelessly repaired year after year but they are no longer structurally sound and able to cater for our growing demands. The 4 new nets will enable us to cater for additional young cricketers and provides a first class training facility.

Our members are incredible. They have enthusiastically supported countless fundraising efforts over recent years, enabling our successful recovery from the Covid 19 pandemic and also providing us with a secure platform to build for the future. Sadly these efforts alone will not fund the new facility and so we need your help!
