Times are tough. I see pain, desperation, and fear in our beautiful country and abroad. At the same time, I wish for hope. Born out of this hope is also my personal obligation to act.

I would like to take this moment to reflect and share my personal thoughts, which lead me to the re-launch of “Operation Ramzieh,” a project that holds a very special place in my heart.

Inflation, interest rate hikes, rent increases, war, supply shortages, the aftermath of COVID, depression, mental health issues, and so much more are happening all at once. Everyone is affected differently, some groups more than others. I wonder, how did everything get broken so fast? How did everything get so bad so fast?

This is happening across the globe and in our backyard. The most vulnerable groups in our community are hit the hardest. Children, seniors, single mothers, and the marginalized are now suffering more than ever. They are facing historic hunger and are lacking basic needs such as winter clothing, baby food, and so much more. I cannot fathom the thought of children going to school hungry and cold. I cannot fathom seniors being hungry in isolation. How is this happening in Canada, the country I grew up in and love so much? We cannot sit idle and let children and seniors suffer in cold, dark despair. The moment we give up on them is the moment we give up on our humanity.

We can do better. We can no longer sit on the sidelines and watch people in our communities and abroad suffer so much. As such, I have decided to re-launch “Operation Ramzieh,” both locally and worldwide.

Locally (our base being Ottawa), we will start delivering food, clothing, toys, and other essentials to those in need during these perilous times on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. We hope to expand this operation to a few more cities if we gather the support needed.

Worldwide, on December 11, 2022, we will load a 40-foot container full of medical supplies and equipment, toys, clothing, and more and send it to Kenya, Africa. We will follow with more containers shipped to Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and to other countries that need it the most. We will send fully loaded containers to places that urgently need equipment and supplies, clothing, medicine, blankets, and hopefully toys. We have carefully selected various local organizations to work with to ensure transparency and effectiveness, which shall ensure the delivery of these urgently needed supplies. We can help those in desperate need in catastrophic regions.

Help us in any way you can! Come and volunteer with us by answering phones, unloading food, packing boxes, or delivering hope to those most in need right to their doors. Help us help others by donating food, clothing, diapers, toys, or money if you are able to do so.

My staff and I will oversee this operation at zero cost. I promise that every dollar and every item donated will be delivered as quickly as humanly possible to those in need with full transparency and effectiveness.

In honour of my cherished late mother, Ramzieh, and the entire Dreammind staff and family, and all our wonderful customers that support us at all our locations, I will be donating the first $20,000 to launch this initiative with more to come.

I am asking all my friends, the business community, and all the kind-hearted Canadians to help and donate. Together we can help as many people as possible. Together we can make our communities and the world a little better. Together we can deliver hope, care, and humanity during this very dark time. I truly believe that the greatest joy and reward comes from giving and helping those in need. Give and you shall receive.

During COVID, with the help of thousands of incredible volunteers and donors, we were able to help hundreds of thousands of people in Canada and in Lebanon. To all past volunteers and donors, you have my endless gratitude, love, and appreciation. Let’s do it again because people need us now more than ever.
