Farewell to the Chickadee with Love
Donation protected
I am writing to you on behalf of community members that reside and work in the Town of Cicero that know Dave Caramanna, the owner of Chickadee Human Eatery located at 8140 Brewerton Road.
Dave opened the Chickadee Human Eatery in May of 2017 with his wife Kristin. What originally opened as an afternoon sandwich shop has now grown into a beloved breakfast spot of many locals. I personally met Dave when a co-worker and friend recommended I try the Boom-Boom Shrimp wrap and from that fateful day almost three years ago I've been hooked. Throughout the brief time I've known Dave I witnessed one of the most generous and giving souls supersede that of any other that I have had the privilege to witness.
Dave insists that kids always eat free, knowing the struggles most parents face to provide at home, but giving parents an opportunity to have a relaxing meal out with their families in a cozy diner atmosphere.
At the beginning of the Covid Pandemic Dave and his wife came up with the "Pay it Forward" wall. Where individuals and local businesses were able to donate any amount of money so that someone in need could feed themselves and their family.
Every Saturday for the last six months, Dave volunteers his time and resources to make over 60 breakfast burritos that are then donated to an organization in the City of Syracuse to feed the homeless thus guaranteeing them at least one hot meal a week. I’ve also witnessed in person as Dave has told people that their meal was covered and that his only request would be that the kindness be paid forward when possible.
Dave has been a lifelong member of the Cicero North Syracuse community and if you ask anyone that has known him, the first that they will say is that he is always giving to anyone in need. In an effort to get to know Dave through others in the community I reached out to some of his closest friends.
In speaking with his childhood friend, George Tucci Jr, he stated that the Covid Pandemic was not the beginning of Dave's generosity. George requested time to compose an e-mail so that he could think on some of Dave's benevolence throughout the forty plus years he's known him. George said in his e-mail that even as a younger gentleman, he would be the first to volunteer his time no matter what the task or how labor intensive. George continued explaining that as most grew up and moved away Dave would be the first to check on parents and grandparents making sure shopping needs, errands and handy work was completed with no questions asked. George's e-mail further stated that Dave has been giving back to the community his whole life but the statement made on his behalf that tugged at my heartstrings the most was "The guy with the least number of resources is the first guy to give them away."
The reason for writing this letter is that The Chickadee is on the brink of closing its doors for good. Please consider a donation of any kind, no donation is too small. There would be no better way to say thank you for Dave’s kindness and selfless service to the community he loves so much!
Thank you for your time and Consideration. Have a blessed day!
Respectfully submitted,

I am a friend of Dave and his family! The funds will be deposited into a separate personal account that has been set up specifically for this fundraiser. All of the money raised will then be withdrawn and given to Dave In the form of a certified bank check! For Dave to use as needed.
