Operation Student Debt Demolition
You may have read about what has been called an "Articling Crisis" in Ontario for students at Ontario Law Schools. I am one of those individuals who has been left with extremely high levels of debt and little recourse but to ask my friends and family for a helping hand. For this reason, I have set up this account to reach out to anyone who might consider helping me pay down my debts and launch my legal career in the City of Barrie.
A bit about me? I grew up as part of a Canadian Forces Family and had the opportunity to live in many Canadian cities. I graduated from Innisdale Secondary School in the City of Barrie and then moved East to the University of New Brunswick, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2007. From there, I followed the footsteps of my grandfathers and father and joined the Canadian Forces, though an early back injury ended that career in the spring of 2011. I studied hard and gained admission to Western Law and graduated this spring. In my time at Western Law, I was elected to two terms at the Student Legal Society and volunteered as an Associate Caseworker and then Caseworker at Community Legal Services, where I worked to provide legal counsel and support to those who could not afford a lawyer. I learned that my problems might seem big, but the blessings in my life are much bigger.
In fact, I often say that I am a very blessed person. Very few people get to have the opportunities I have had in life thus far, and I believe the future is bright. I look forward to building my practice, creating a family, and contributing to my community in Barrie. I don't like asking for help, especially in such a public way, though I am hopeful that through the generosity of my friends, family and supporters that I can begin to chip away at this looming debt and open the doors to a bright new future!
Thank you for your time and consideration.
