Operation Irwin

Rebecca Irwin is a wife and mother to 4 beautiful daughters. She loves Jesus and serves faithfully at her home church in Yakima, WA; as well as in a ministry called Barista Love.
Rebecca came down with a cold in January and thought nothing of it. By February, the "cold" was still lingering and the symptoms got worse and worse. By the time she got to the hospital, there was fluid built up in the sack around her heart. They put a catheder in and drained the fluid around her heart. The doctors thought this would aleviate her symptoms, but it did not. She continued to cough up blood and have pain. Rebecca had every test ran that the doctors could think of to do, however, they kept coming up empty handed. She was eventually sent to the University of Washington for testing. They ran the tests and they all came back inconclusive. They were going to start from the beginning again and work their way up.

On April 19,2015  Rebecca woke up out of a dead sleep with shooting pain in her lung, and having a very hard time breathing. When she arrived at the hospital, they immediately put a catheder in, and pulled out a liter and a half of fluid from the sack around her lungs. At this point the doctors knew that the fluid build ups were connected, but unsure how. This is when her team of doctors decided to move her to a hospital that specializes in cardiac care. They decided to open her up and perform exploratory surgery. During exporitory surgery they found a tumor growing on her heart. They immediately put her on bypass and performed open heart surgery to remove the tumor. At this point they are unsure what the tumor is or what caused it. It will be a while before they know these results.

As you can imagine, this has created a financial burden for the family. Rebecca had just returned to work from the last stint in the hospital. At this point it will be a while before she is able to return to work full-time. Her husband Max has been an amazing supporter, and she does have medical insurance, but there are a still ton of unpaid medical bills left over from what the insurance does not cover; as well as the day to day bills that need to be paid.
