Ophelia needs major surgery!

Ophelia needs major surgery; please help us so we can help her!

Ophelia came into our rescue, and she struggled with months with poop. Yep poop; it wasn’t solid. Not even close. And the worst thing ever is a Great Dane with diarrhea or runny poop. In the course of trying to figure out her GI issues and taking x-rays , we discovered that she has an issue with her femur. She has a dislocation of her hip joint.

Ophelia doesn’t seem to know that, yet, though it could become a huge problem for her down the road if we leave it untreated. The RIGHT thing to do is to take care of this now. She needs FHO (femoral head ostectomy) hip surgery. FHO surgery will restore pain-free mobility to the hip for most dogs as a result of the head of the femur being removed.

This surgery sounds serious. And the cost is no joke either. The estimate for a dog her size is $2216 - $2348. She will require physical therapy and an extensive recovery period too. All with the objective of giving her the long, pain-free life she deserves

So once again, we come to you begging for help. It has been medical case after medical case, and we are so grateful to all of our followers who have helped support the other dogs in our care. Now it’s Ophelia’s turn to feel the love.
