Opie's Lymphoma Treatments

Well, here we go again…

After you all helped Opie get through 2 surgeries and 2 electro-chemotherapy treatments last year, he beat Spindle Cell Sarcoma.

Then this past Monday (10/28) he was diagnosed with Lymphoma. We set an appointment at Blue Pearl, but they couldn’t see him till mid-November. Then Tuesday, he totally stopped eating. He would not accept a single bite of anything. Wouldn’t even drink chicken broth. I panicked.

His vet recommended a specialist at a different practice and we saw her yesterday. After much discussion, we started a course of chemo for this new monster disease. If all goes well, we should get a year of remission out of it. And this treatment won’t make him feel sick. In fact the first cocktail yesterday already reduced the inflammation around his neck and made him feel better. He ate three small bowls of steamed chicken for me last night, and he was finally able to poop this morning!

We’re feeling very hopeful today.

Except for one thing. I was able to cover the first treatment ($722). Unfortunately, the cost for the entire course is prohibitive. When all is said and done, it’s estimated that these weekly (then bi-weekly) treatments will cost us around $7,000. That’s just crazy.

But we have to find a way to do it! He’s already showing improvement!

Many of you know our story. How we lost our little house with the big yard and landed in an apartment that’s half the size and costs twice as much. If anything, we’re in worse shape this year than we were last year. And here we are fighting cancer again. Huge, unexpected expenses absolutely wreck us. And this is astronomical.

It’s painful to ask, but I don’t know where else to turn.

If all of my dog-loving friends could throw in a buck, we’d raise enough to beat this thing. If you can spare $5, even better. We literally cannot do this without you guys. Would any of you be able to help with a small chip-in?
