Opioid Awareness Event
Donation protected
The U.S. is currently in the middle of an opioid epidemic, with 69,710 people dying last year from opioid-related causes. 91% of people with opioid addictions relapse after becoming sober.
I’m currently a senior in high school and I’m planning an Opioid Awareness Event in Phoenix, AZ this coming March 2022. It will be open to the public and I hope to provide free fentanyl test strips, Narcan, and HIV testing, which can be quite costly. Additionally, I plan to provide a tribute space to acknowledge those who are currently struggling as well as those who have lost their battle against addiction.
In hosting this event, I am hoping to spread information about the nature of addiction, decrease the stigma in the community, and educate about the importance of harm reduction.
Anything would be appreciated, as permits from the city are upwards of $400, and I would also like to be able to afford amenities such as snacks, water, and customized products for the event. Any money that I don’t end up using will be donated to local harm reduction organizations, such as Sonoran Prevention Works.
Thank you so much:)
