On Saturday, March 2nd, 2019, Karina Orellano passed away unexpectedly as a result of a brain aneurysm, leaving behind her husband of 22 years, Elkin Orellano, and two beautiful daughters, Adrianna and Sophia.

As you may imagine, Elkin and his daughters are going through the toughest moments of their lives. Elkin is doing his best to remain strong for his two daughters, who are at an age when no child should live without their mother.

Those who know Elkin know he is a selfless human being, willing to put his life on the line for the safety of others including while on the job as a NJ State Trooper. He regularly volunteers for charity runs (5ks) and has sacrificed plenty of time away from his family in the name of selfless service, including a volunteer trip to Puerto Rico to offer assistance during Hurricane Maria. Elkin would take the shirt off his back for anyone who needs it; now it is our time to help Elkin and his daughters during this time of grief.

Why Fundraise for the Orellano Family?
With the loss of Karina comes the loss of income for the household, as Karina worked full time as a Senior Clinician for Children's Aid and Family Services. For this reason, we are asking for any help possible to offset the lost income. This will help Elkin focus on healing and being present and strong for his daughters, instead of picking up extra shifts at work.

Fundraising Goal
We are fundraising to provide the Orellano family with at least 6 months to a year of lost income. Our first goal is $35,000. Once this goal is achieved, our second goal will be $50,000.

Additionally, a 529 college fund account will soon be opened for Adrianna and Sophia. A link will be provided here when it becomes available and anyone can donate to that account at any time including birthdays and holidays. These funds are to be used for educational purposes only when the girls reach college education age.

All the amount fundraised (minus GoFundMe service fees) will go directly to the Orellano family.

Thank you all for your help and support. We are sure Elkin and his daughters will much appreciate it!
