Oreo hit by a car - Need help with hospital bill

Donation protected
My lovely Oreo was hit by a car on November 17, 2022. He is sweet, loving, and caring member of our family who we dearly love. Never thought he would be hit by a car. It was devastating to see him helpless and unable to move from the ground.

My son manage to stop traffic on a busy road in order to pick him up. He thought he was dead but there was still sign of life. He was cover with blood as the car struck him and caused trauma to his head and body.

He was rushed to the animal hospital and they took him right away to see what can be done to keep him alive. He is in critical condition. The Veterinarian wanted me to make a decision if I wanted him to get treated or say my goodbyes. I was no ready to make that call.

Oreo gave me a sign and HOPE! He was hanging in there fighting for his life. I called his name and he looked at me and he tried to lift his head.

Something in my heart told me not to give up
on him and I didn’t. The doctor gave me all the options for treatments such as diagnostic, blood work, X-ray, oxygen, etc. They gave me an estimate of how much it was going to cost but it was more important to me his life. The vet gave me the good and bad news and what to expect.

God gave me hope and I believe he will get better. Hang in there buddy! I love you!

Here’s a little background when I took Oreo to the emergency hospital. Oreo received medicine to control his pain. He was evaluated and did X-ray to check for broken bones and internal bleeding. I don’t know if his left eye will be saved due to the trauma as he was struck by a car. They are trying to stabilize him. The X-ray results came as follow: Injuries/Trauma to his head, fracture to his face, jaw and cheeks, bruise lungs, Pulmonary contusions (bleeding into the lungs), Pneumothorax (air in the chest cavity), liver disease, ulcer in both eyes, trauma to the left eye and can’t see from that eye. He has high blood pressure and many other things.

The vet recommended for Oreo to see a neurologist and to get a CT Scan/MRI which it’s an expensive cost. I still need to schedule an appointment but the bills are piling up with further treatment.

Here is list of things the vet perform on Oreo:

  • Office Visit
  • IV Catheter Placed
  • T-Set and Y-Set Bi-Fuse
  • 30” Extension Set
  • Fluid Set
  • Lactated Ringers Solution
