Organically Grown Urban Farm in the Bayview SF
Donation protected
Greetings,
I am Isaiah- a Black farmer who strives to turn an overgrown lot into an organically-grown food oasis in the middle of a vast food desert. The mission is to rehabilitate land and spirit in the community and use healthy food to forge strong bonds between the people of Bayview/HP in San Francisco. My greater wish is to inspire all at risk or neglected communities across the nation to imagine a greater future through sustainability. This project would also serve to beautify the area, and offer a sanctuary to local birds, butterflies, insects and amphibians. We hope to have a fully operational garden program by Fall 2020, and offer local schools a program to engage their youth and broaden their horizons.
ALL ORGANICALLY GROWN means pesticide-free, non-GMO seeds for health!
I've started growing but we need more help now, as we are halfway into the growing season, and want to have many locally grown vegetables to donate to shelters and those in need. We will also sell vegetables to anyone/restaurants in the area; hoping to form relationships for the true farm-to-table idea.
These funds will be utilized right away to cover supplies: organic soil, boosters, fertilizers, tools, plant starts and seeds, lumber, gravel, trellises, ladybugs, containers, pots, etc. We have a wish list for larger equipment: sheds, mowers, wheelbarrows, weed cutter, compost tumblers.
This farm will be run on donations and grants; all man-power provided by Isaiah.
For a $500 donation: A plot/rows of veggies dedicated to you for one year! This would fund the purchase of soil, starts and manpower. We are also teaming up with a local artist (Calibird) who will make a custom garden art sign with your name, which will be proudly displayed at the head of your plot. At the end of the season, this art piece will be sent to you. How about sponsoring a row of vegetables and/or flowers in memory of a family member? Your local church? Your company?
Any donation is appreciated and honored. Due to COVID, we cannot have too many volunteers around now.
Progress pics and shout-outs available on our Instagram page, coming soon! In the meantime, you can follow the_art_of_calibird...
Bless!
Isaiah
