Soweto- Water-shedding Relief
Donation protected
We are a collective of healers, artists and educators. On a recent trip to Johannesburg South Africa in the midst of all the beauty and majesty of being in the Golden City, the Cradle of Humankind, we learned of load shedding and water shedding.
Load shedding is when power/electricity is cut off for hours sometimes days and also impacts water quality and health and sanitation of impacted communities. Water shedding is when water is cut off for anywhere from 1-2 days a week. These are two strategies being used in South Africa and other places to save precious resources of electricity and water.
Unfortunately, the communities most impacted by these practices are vulnerable and often lack infrastructure resources, and/or political clout to make effective change.
Currently the Central Western Jabavu area of Soweto, home of the Morris Isaacson High School and the Credo Mutwa Cultural Village is dealing with water shedding mutliple days out of the week disrupting the daily lives of local people.
Join us in helping to sponsor water dispensation sites at the High School and the Cultural Center. Funds donated will be used for sponsorship of Kusini water sites. The Kusini group is a local social enterprise based in South Africa with a mission of providing safe drinking water to all in need.
