Please help Origin Learning fundraise $50,000 to empower indigenous and migrant young women through tailored quality digital education and vocational training to build sustainable communities in La Guajira, Colombia. In this region, 29% of girls do not finish primary or secondary education, and only 5% enroll in higher education or find employment. This is why La Guajira remains the region with the highest level of school dropout and extreme poverty in the country.
Young migrant and indigenous women in La Guajira have ambitions to create innovative and sustainable solutions to safeguard their communities but lack the means to develop the technical skills and support to afford quality education. Origin Learning Fund was born out of the desire of a young woman native from La Guajira, Tania Rosas, the founder, to encourage these women's ambitions and equip them with the appropriate technical resources.
We will provide 500 indigenous and migrant young women and girls from La Guajira with access to quality, digital, STEAM education and tools and tailored mentorship to develop social entrepreneurship and sustainable solutions for community issues.
We will use O-lab app, our offline tailor-made learning mobile/web platform that provides tailored education and vocational training co-created by us and our institutional partners. O-lab adapts to local languages, including Wayuunaiki - La Guajira’s local indigenous language. It works on low-tech devices. Our support goes beyond a platform for education. Our team mentors and gives technical support to our program participants. We also deliver tablets and devices to the schools and communities we impact, increasing the digital penetration of our activities and making projects more inclusive. For this project, we will build a tech-lab in a low-income school in a rural area of La Guajira. The tech-lab will work as a safe place for all indigenous and young women from La Guajira to learn and grow their vocations.
Join us in giving 500 indigenous and migrant young women and girls in La Guajira access to inclusive, quality digital education and tailored vocational training to foster sustainable community solutions and empower a new generation of young leaders!
