Orlando Police Officer Needs Our Help

March 5, 2016, Orlando Police Office Tammi Cliborne was injured while training with the department's Mounted Patrol Unit.

Tammi suffered a traumatic brain injury, seizures, hearing loss, ruptured discs in her neck, herniated discs in her spine with contusions to her spinal cord.  She was left unable to walk or use her right side. After thirteen months of rehabilitation, multiple surgeries, and more than sixty days in the hospital, Tammi returned to full duty on patrol.

Eight months later, Ofc. Cliborne collapsed at work due to complications from her injury, putting her in the hospital for several weeks. In June of 2018, Tammi returned to full duty again. In December of 2018, she had surgery to restore some hearing. In January of 2019, she returned to work, continuing to deal with complications from her injuries. 

In October of 2019, Ofc. Cliborne underwent further neurocognitive testing, which revealed severe deficits. Her medical team determined she was unable to continue working.  To make matters worse, Tammi was told she was unable to drive or be alone for extended periods.

Ofc. Cliborne is currently  receiving worker's compensation benefits, computed at her 2016 pay rate. Her husband, and Orange County Deputy, has to take her to her doctor appointments and care for her, limiting any overtime or extra duty. Through all of this, they have remained grateful to their OPD family and continued their commitment to service by opening their home to a young child in need.

Ofc. Cliborne has applied for a medical pension, and her family could use help with unexpected financial expenses while navigating through the process.
