Collecting funds for urgent aid: food, medical supplies, essential items for women, children and families, the elderly and other vulnerable groups including people with disabilities who have been displaced from Somalia and have been resettled surrounding Finfinne.
Thank you very much for generous support.

Ethiopia has been experiencing a widespread internal population displacement since mid-2018. In May 2020 it was reported that there were 1,735,481 displaced people in 1237 sites in the country. People are being displaced in response to ethnic conflict, political violence, and the combined forces of the desert locust and drought across the Horn of Africa. This project is seeking to organize funds to support the urgent humanitarian needs of displaced peoples who have been resettled in the Oromia Special Zone surrounding Finfinne,  Ethiopia.

The majority of the displaced people are women with young children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Support is needed to provide food and medical supplies, as well as basic household needs; many of the families left everything behind when they fled. Even a small donation has a great impact on a local family. A £5 donation would provide a family with cooking oil, lentils, salt, and grains. Once these urgent needs are met, and with additional funds, we can begin to construct temporary housing and shelter for longer-term stability.

Funding will be coordinated and distributed by the Oromo Relief Association global partners. The Oromo Relief Association has been working in the Horn of Africa since 1979,  with early projects building schools and providing education for refugees in the Sudanese and Somali borderlands. In 2019 ORA was reinstated as an official non-profit Civil Service Organization in Ethiopia. Throughout its 40+ year history ORA has remained committed to promoting peace and cooperation for all ethnic peoples in the Horn of Africa. The money raised here will go directly to support people on the ground, and we will share updates on all progress.

For more information on ORA, to look at our other ongoing projects, or to donate directly via a PayPal or credit card, go to our website  .

The money will be collected by Oromo Relief Association UK (a registered UK charity 284602). Find out about ORA UK here.

Please share widely. Thank you very much for your generous support !
