Orphanage in Burkina Faso
A House for Kids without a Home -

On our first trip to Burkina Faso in 2018, we dedicated a water well funded by donations. We didn’t quite expect the emotional impact the trip would leave us with.
This trip has made us humble and made it unmistakably clear how privileged we are and how much for granted we take the life that we live.
We also visited an orphanage. The conditions under which those children, mostly toddlers, live has shocked us. Everything was missing – medical supplies, hygiene, affection and the chance to live a happy and fulfilled life.
Our resolution: We wanted to do something and founded our own relief organization, HUMMAID e.V. and we decided to build our own orphanage!
It is our vision to build until the summer of 2021, our own orphanage for 120 toddlers, babies and children. We want to contribute and help! Exactly here (Maps): Orphanage Burkina Faso!
This property has already been leased for 99 years and we have received several offers for the construction of the orphanage. The offer which has aligned the most with our criteria and demands for security / quality, cost-performance ratio and integration of local companies amounts to a total of 200,000€.
The orphanage is planned to offer 2500 square meters (48 m x 48m) for bedrooms, bathrooms, classrooms, a big inner courtyard and medical care rooms. You can view the construction plans on our website www.hummaid.org/en.
It is not only our objective to build the orphanage but to ensure that teachers, supervisors, care takers can work there in order to enable the children to experience a more promising future.
We create sustainable jobs. We have Hummis there (Hummaid-Employees) which will document the progress made for our website.

In the summer of 2021 we will travel to Burkina Faso and dedicate the orphanage with a big opening-ceremony. If you want to come along, feel free to join us!
To motivate others and to show that we can make a change together, we would like to attach a panel at the entrance of the orphanage once fully constructed. On this panel we will engrave the names of the donors.
Because the wall is limited by its available surface, we will be able to consider all donors donating 500€ and more on the wall.
