Orrington Family Needs Our Help

Hello, I'm an Orrington parent and I'm fundraising to help a family in our community whose children have attended Orrington Elementary for the past 12 years. Many of us know 3rd grader, Savy, or maybe you know her brother, Leo, who moved up to middle school this year. Their Mom, Chelsea, also has a 17-year-old and a 2-year-old.

Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, Chelsea and her family were victims of arson. On March 22nd at about 9:45pm, the family was alerted, by a frantic neighbor, that their only car, which was parked in front of their home, was on FIRE! Police later found video footage from street cameras, which determined it was an act of random arson.

Our support is so important. Chelsea is a single mom and with no means of transportation, she had to quit her job, leaving the family with no source of income. Needless to say, Chelsea is struggling to make ends meet. She is behind on rent and facing imminent eviction unless we can all chip in to help so she can start working again. I convinced Chelsea to let me start this fundraiser. If you know Chelsea, she is a very private person. She would never start such a fundraiser for herself, which is why I decided to try and help.

The funds we all donate will be used to help Chelsea purchase a reliable, used car for their family. Nothing fancy, just big enough for their family of 5 and reliable enough to get the kids safely to school events, extracurriculars and Chelsea to work, grocery store, doctor appointments, etc.

Please consider helping if you can. If we all donate, even just a little, the impact could be big for Chelsea and her family. In a time when we frequently hear about random acts of violence and hate, let's all chip in as a community to show this Orrington family an act of kindness and love. Thank you!
